[Resource] Openstack + NSX Networking Deep Dive

18/04/2016 by Myles Gray Leave a Comment

I have been playing with NSX and VIO a lot recently and wanted to get to grips with the mechanics of what VIO was actually orchestrating in NSX under the flashy GUI. Going through the VMware communities I found this absolutely indispensable powerpoint explaining in as much depth as you can hope for, all the […]

vSphere next Beta open for applications

16/04/2016 by Myles Gray Leave a Comment

VMware has opened access to sign up for the next vSphere Beta (some cool things are being talked about in there!). Obviously, as with any public beta program there is an NDA/MSBTA that needs agreed to and a baseline understanding of 5.5 and 6.0 features such that feedback can be contributed. You can sign up […]

Upgrading VMware Integrated Openstack from v2.0.1 to v2.0.3

15/04/2016 by Myles Gray Leave a Comment

I’ve been playing around with VMware Integrated Openstack recently and wanted to see what the upgrade experience for bugfixes and point releases is like, happy to say – it’s quite easy. Firstly, download the .deb package from my.vmware.com and upload it to the VIO management appliance – I used FileZilla for this, the username is […]

08/04/2016 by Myles Gray Leave a Comment

I have been lucky enough to have had one of my articles selected for the vSphere Design Pocketbook v3 – After a little waiting, the vSphere Design Pocketbook v3 is now available for download, with print coming along shortly. In need of a multi-OS, bootable USB? Use an Android phone.

07/04/2016 by Myles Gray 3 Comments

I found myself in the position recently whereby I had two hosts I bought off eBay (as one does for labs), they arrived, I had great plans… But no iDRAC Enterprise :( While the iDRAC Ent cards were on their way to me I couldn’t help but want to install ESXi on these things so […]

08/02/2016 by Myles Gray Leave a Comment

Just a quick share, I applied to the VMware vExpert program at the end of last year, almost completely forgot about it until this showed up in my Feedly today: http://blogs.vmware.com/vmtn/2016/02/vexpert-2016-award-announcement.html?src=vmw_so_vex_mgray_1080 A quick Ctrl + F and there I am :) Should show up in the directory soon enough: https://communities.vmware.com/vexpert.jspa?src=vmw_so_vex_mgray_1080 This is more of just […]

VSAN Observer RVC in vCenter Appliance 6.0 U1

06/10/2015 by Myles Gray 1 Comment

I have been working with VSAN in the lab recently and had the need to get some deeper stats on the inner operations. I had upgraded the lab to ESXi 6.0 U1 and vCenter 6.0 U1 and for the life of me couldn’t get the RVC console in the VCSA to work per the VMware […]
